The War on Drugs, Pennsylvania’s sensational indie rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Hearst Greek Theatre!
The War on Drugs was formed in Philadelphia in 2005 by Adam Granduciel, David Hartley, Kurt Vile, and Kyle Lloyd. The band’s been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Adam (vocals, guitars, harmonica, keyboards, and samplers), David (bass guitar, and electric guitars), Robbie Bennett (keyboards, piano, and guitars), Charlie Hall (drums and organ), Jon Natchez (saxophone and keyboards), and Anthony LaMarca (guitar and keyboards). While their musical style can be broadly classified as indie rock, it’s best described as blend of heartland rock, roots rock (a subgenre of rock music that takes inspiration from various American musical traditions such as country, blues, and folk), Americana, psychedelic rock (a style of rock music - inspired or influenced by psychedelic culture - that attempts to replicate and enhance the mind altering experiences of psychedelic drugs, most notably LSD, by using novelty recording techniques, electronic instruments or effects), shoegaze (a subgenre of indie rock and neo psychedelia, characterized by the blurring of component musical parts—typically significant guitar distortion, feedback and obscured vocals—into indistinguishable mixtures of sound), and new wave. They’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums, 2 extended plays, and 10 singles.
Don’t miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to indie rock music!
