Sensational alternative rock artists The Shins and Spoon are bringing their signature sounds to the Hearst Greek Theatre!
The Shins were formed in Albuquerque in 1996 by guitarist/vocalist James Mercer and drummer Jesse Sandoval. The band’s been through many line up changes over the years and it currently consists of James (lead vocals and guitar), Yuuki Matthews (bass guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals), Mark Watrous (guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals), Casey Foubert (guitar), Jon Sortland (drums), and Patti King (keyboards). Their musical style can be best described as a blend of indie rock, indie pop, folk rock, dream pop, and surf rock. They’ve had a stellar career with 5 studio albums, 1 live album, 13 music videos, 3 extended plays, 11 singles, and their music has been featured on many compilation albums and on the soundtrack of the films Wish I Was Here and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. 2 of their albums are Top 5 hits on the US Billboard 200 chart and 3 of them have been certified Gold in the US. They’ve received many accolades including a Grammy Award nomination (for Best Alternative Music Album) and Rolling Stone magazine has credited the band with bringing “the pop traditions of 1960s pop bands — groups like the Beatles, the Zombies, and the Beach Boys — to a new generation of music fans.”
Don’t miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to indie rock and indie pop music!
