Odesza, Washington’s sensational electronic artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Hearst Greek Theatre!
Odesza (stylized as ODESZA) was formed in Seattle in 2012 and is a duo consisting of Harrison Mills (also known as Catacombkid) and Clayton Knight (also known as Beaches Beaches). While their musical style can be broadly classified as electronic, it’s best described as a blend of indietronica (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs), future bass (a broad genre offering a wide variety of sounds and rhythms normally produced by a synthesizer), electro pop (a fusion of electronic music and pop music - with primary usage of synthesizers and various electronic and pop musical instruments - often with simple, catchy hooks and simple dance beats, but differing from those of electronic dance music genres in that songwriting is emphasized over simple danceability), and chillwave (a genre characterized by a faded or dreamy retro pop sound, mellow vocals, a low-to-moderate tempo, escapist lyrics about the beach or summertime, psychedelic or lo-fi textures, effects processing, vintage synthesizers, and other attempts to loosely emulate 1980s electronic pop aesthetics as well as engage with notions of memory and nostalgia). They’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums.
